Frozen Pasta Sauce

Introduction

I chose this recipe because it is the main family recipe that I think of when I think of family recipes(and it's delicious). The original recipe had far more vegetables--until I came along. My dad told me that, at one point, [he] would make the sauce as it now, split it into two, and then add the veggies to the pot for [my parents]--and leave [mine] without. Eventually, he got rid of the healthier ones alltogether. I do like vegetables--just not the ones that were in the original version(eg. olives, mushrooms).


Prep Time: 10min(roughly)

Servings: 10 servings(single person)

Ingredients Measurements Prep. Instr.
Olive Oil 2 tbs
Yellow Onion 1 Medium Finely Chopped
Garlic Cloves 6 Medium Pressed
Ground Beef 1 lb
Diced Tomatoes 1 14oz can drained
Tomato Sauce 1 14oz can
Salt, pepper & italian seasoning to taste
red wine vinegar

Instructions:

  1. Heat Oil in 4 qt pot over medium heat
  2. Saute onion and garlic stirring reguarly until they begin to cook down
  3. Add beef to pot breaking up while stirring in to onion and garlic
  4. Sprinkle italian seasoning, salt and pepper to taste
  5. Add drained tomatoes
  6. Add sauce, stir in
  7. Add additional salt, pepper, and italian seasoning to taste
  8. Reduce heat to low simmer, stirring occasionally for approximately 5 minutes
  9. Remove from heat
  10. Lightly drizzle small amount of vinegar on surface and stir in
